UNIVERSITY SUPPORT

In cooperation with Daugavpils University, we have created a new product which has never existed before – the camp of the Russian language with the following online training. Professional teachers, some among them with PhD in Russian Philology will spend 2 weeks with you. Your training will be continued online – not leaving home you will be able to complete to master the language and “plunge” in the Russian culture.

RUSSIANS IN EUROPE

To learn the language, we invite everyone interested to Daugavpils - the second largest city in Latvia. Daugavpils is located on the border with Russia and Belarus, so 90% of the population speaks Russian. The city still has a large diaspora of Old Believers, many churches and the Russian House is actively working. Despite such proximity to Russia, the city is dominated by European values.

LIFE AT THE CAMP

2 weeks will be spent at a real resort - the Silene Resort & SPA. The park is located on the lake with many sites for outdoor activities. Lovers of peace will also be comfortable - cosy villas, forest. The is an island in the middle of the lake – you can reach it by boat. We have really combined business with pleasure!

WE KNOW HOW TO ENTERTAIN

In addition to training, everyone interested can visit restaurants and clubs. The city has a cinema, a theatre, the Mark Rothko Museum which is popular throughout Europe, the local history museum, a zoo, a large sports complex, parks, and the Fortress. There are 11 lakes on the territory of Daugavpils. In 3 hours from Daugavpils, you can reach Riga or Vilnius. Minsk, the capital of Belarus, is at the same distance.

This name might sound unfamiliar but read this trough and you will learn why this this place is worth visiting.
If you need or want to learn Russian you might think that Russia is the place to go; however, there is even a better place – Latvia. This beautiful country with its stunning nature and wildlife is located in the Baltic region of the Northern part of Eastern Europe. Daugavpils is its second largest city located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city gets its name. Daugavpils is located relatively close to Russia (distance is just some 120 km (75 mi)). The close proximity and some historical events have formed the unique situation now in Daugavpils - there are native speakers of Russian, which means no accent in their speech. One of the events creating this situation were the persecutions which began after 1685, which forced the Old Believers of Russia to leave their country. Many of them found a safe place here in Daugavpils. Here their beliefs have never been oppressed and they have always been able to practice their faith and traditions. During your stay you will be able to visit the Old Believer’s temples and get acquainted with their faith and vocabulary.
You will also be able to practice Russian every time you go out in the town. There is much to see in the city, to start with, an art gallery named after a Jewish painter Mark Rothko. Born in Daugavpils in 1903 he immigrated at the age of 10 to the United States where he painted over 800 paintings in his unique style. Nowadays you can see some of his original works here in Daugavpils. 
Daugavpils has something for every taste – the city center is full of cafes and restaurants offering traditional and international cuisines.
For the cinema fans there is a cinema offering the best American movies in Russian. If you think the theatre is better than the cinema, you will be happy to find out that there is a local theatre offering plays also in Russian. Those keen on learning something new will have the opportunity to visit local and not-far-away museums telling the history of the town and the region and also showing the traditions of doll making, bread baking and many others. Animal lovers will be happy to visit the local Zoo or one of the mini zoos around Daugavpils.

Founded in 1921 Daugavpils University has accumulated years of experience thus being able to offer high quality education. Nowadays it is the largest reginal university offering study programs in the main scientific branches through their five faculties: The Faculty of Humanities, The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, The Faculty of Social Sciences, The Faculty of Education and Management, and The Faculty of Music and Arts.
During the camp you will have the opportunity to meet the academic personnel from the Faculty of Social Sciences, who will help you gain self-confidence by using a foreign language. The training courses will also help to remove the language barrier.
